The Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority has prepared a redevelopment plan worth nearly Rs.90 crore to upgrade and repair around 50 kms. of roads connected to the Dwarka Expressway. The plan aims to boost as well as ease connectivity between the Dwarka Expressway road, NH8, and the sectors nearby. These sectors are witnessing rapid expansion, resulting in increasing traffic movement on the existing road infrastructure.
Highlighting the issues, officials mentioned that the condition of several internal and master roads in the sectors alongside Dwarka Expressway Gurgaon corridor have worsened significantly after opening of the expressway. Residents in these sectors have been facing daily issues such as potholes, damaged roads, dust pollution, traffic congestion, and severe waterlogging during the monsoon season.

Under this proposed plan, the authority will reconstruct as well as strengthen the damaged road stretches, thus improving the civic infrastructure alongside the corridor. New drainage systems will be developed to reduce flooding issues during heavy rainfall, while upgraded street lighting infrastructure will be installed to improve commuter convenience and road safety.
Officials also stated that service roads running parallel to the Dwarka Expressway will be upgraded to ensure smoother local traffic movement and better accessibility to nearby sectors and highways.
“The tender process for the project is expected to begin soon. Major construction work will likely start after the monsoon season to maintain better execution quality,” officials associated with the project said.
The infrastructure push comes at a time when Dwarka Expressway has emerged as one of the fastest-growing residential corridors in Gurgaon. Several premium residential projects, commercial developments, and townships are currently under development in sectors surrounding the expressway, leading to a sharp increase in vehicle movement and population density.
Real estate experts believe that improved road connectivity and upgraded civic infrastructure could further boost investor confidence in the region. Connectivity with NH8 and other parts of Gurgaon is also expected to enhance, while boosting the demand of residential properties along the Dwarka Expressway Gurgaon corridor.
Officials believe that this redevelopment project will not only improve traffic flow and travel experience, but also bring down dust pollution, enhancing the overall urban infrastructure standards in the developing sectors of Gurgaon.
